FAQ
1. Where is The Farm 1893 located, and how far is it from Cleveland or Toledo?
The Farm 1893 is a rustic barn wedding venue located at 12211 Berlin Road in Berlin Heights, Ohio — just minutes from Lake Erie and close to Kelley's Island, Put-in-Bay, and Cedar Point. We're about an hour west of Cleveland, an hour east of Toledo, and under two hours north of Columbus, making us an easy destination wedding venue for guests traveling from across Ohio.
2. Does The Farm 1893 offer on-site lodging for the wedding party?
Yes — and it's one of the biggest ways we differ from other Ohio barn venues. We offer four on-site "Grain Bin" accommodations (Ella, Karin, Taylor, and the Big Bin) that together sleep 20+ guests. Each unit includes heat and air conditioning, a full kitchen and bathroom, a flat-screen TV, and Wi-Fi, so your wedding party can stay right on the property for the whole weekend.
3. What is the maximum guest capacity at The Farm 1893?
Our venue comfortably holds up to 250 guests, including the wedding party. Our renovated packing house offers indoor seating along with expansive outdoor spaces for ceremonies and photos.
4. Is The Farm 1893 a weekend-long rental, or just a single-day booking?
Unlike many wedding venues that only give you a few hours, The Farm 1893 offers weekend-long access. That means you can set up, decorate, and rehearse at your own pace without the stress of a tight one-day turnaround — everything happens right here on the farm.
5. Can we bring our own alcohol (BYOB)?
Yes, The Farm 1893 is BYOB-friendly. We have an expansive indoor bar with wood high-top tables and metal stools, plus a bar window that opens onto a covered porch for outdoor beverage service.
6. Do you provide catering, or can we bring our own caterer?
We are caterer-friendly and provide a large prep kitchen so your caterer of choice has everything they need. This flexibility lets you choose a caterer that fits your taste and budget rather than being locked into one option.
7. What is the base price for a wedding at The Farm 1893?
Our base rate for the 2027 season is $10,500 for a full wedding weekend — Friday through Sunday. Rather than a flat rental fee, this price reflects real, itemized value:
$6,000 — Full weekend catering-ready venue access across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and farewell gathering — not just a few hours on one day)
$4,500 — On-site overnight lodging for 20+ guests across our four Grain Bin accommodations, each with heat/air conditioning, a full kitchen, bathroom, and Wi-Fi. This equals roughly $180 per person for the convenience of staying on the property and enjoying the weekend.
When you add it up, couples aren't just booking a venue — they're booking an entire weekend destination for their wedding party, with lodging built in. Compare that to a typical wedding where couples pay for a one-day venue rental and a separate hotel block for out-of-town guests, and The Farm 1893's all-in price often works out to be a better value, not a bigger expense.
8. What is included in the price, and are there any additional fees?
Our pricing is designed to be straightforward. In addition to the base rental rate, couples should plan for a refundable damage deposit, event insurance, and Ohio's required sales and lodging tax. We're happy to walk you through exact numbers for your date — reach out for a personalized quote.
9. Is there a Bridal Suite or getting-ready space on site?
Yes. Our Bridal Barn includes a dedicated Bridal Suite with five salon stations, a dress display area, a lounge, a full bathroom, and a kitchen — everything your wedding party needs to get ready without leaving the property.
10. What makes The Farm 1893 different from other barn and farm wedding venues near Sandusky?
The Farm 1893 is a historic fruit farm dating back to 1893, transformed by the Wlodarsky family into a rustic-meets-modern venue with a rare combination: weekend-long access, on-site lodging for 20+ guests, a dedicated bridal suite, and BYOB flexibility — all in one property, minutes from Lake Erie.
11 . How far in advance should we book, and how do we schedule a tour?
Popular dates — especially late spring through fall — can book up a year or more in advance. We recommend reaching out as soon as you have a general date in mind. You can schedule a tour by contacting us at info@thefarm1893.com or 567-623-5455.
12. Does the venue have RV sites?
Yes, we have room for 2 RV’s with water and electric and septic hookups.
13. Does the Venue allow Pets?
Yes, Pets are allowed but for a small fee and only for the ceremony. Pets need to be on a leash and any mess they make, needs to be cleaned up immediately.
14. Is smoking or Vaping allowed on the property?
Yes but only at the designated smoking area. Anyone not following the policy will be asked to go to the designated area. We do this for several reasons: We want our guests to enjoy their time and not everyone like the smell. We also want to minimize fire hazards and litter on the property.
